Clonkeen College Press
CLONKEEN COLLEGE PRESS is a Transition Year project. It was set-up in the 2011-12 academic year with the aim of creating a space for students to write creatively and, ultimately, to produce and publish an annual collection of student writing. The students write the stories, the essays, the poetry and all the rest, and then they design the cover, they promote the book, they take responsibility for the layout of the book and the editing. And when the creative graft is complete, they must liaise with the printer, cost the book and sell it. The intention of the project has always been to provide the students with a creative and practical experience of the world of publishing.
The project begun in 2011-12 has now become what we all call THE ANTHOLOGY. A collection of student writing that is published each April.
2019-2020, saw the launch of this website - the Clonkeen College Press website.
We hope you enjoy the new ways in which it will allow us to promote our young writers in Clonkeen. Of course, we are always open to supporting and publishing students from other schools too and would encourage students seeking publication to send us their writing. We hope that the writing here on the website will also feed into THE ANTHOLOGY publication each year, as well as acting as a more fluid and interactive writing space for students.
We would like to thank everyone in our community - students, teachers, our admin staff, school managers, parents, sisters, brothers, friends, grandparents, uncles, aunties, and everyone in between - for their continued support.
